David Jackson Bass passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and devotion. Born in 1942 in Brownwood, Texas, he was the beloved son of Margaret Watford Bass and Jackson Odell Bass. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ronald Bass. He is survived by his devoted wife, Glenda Sue Bass, and their five children: David Bass Jr. & wife Melanie, Kimberly Stubblefield & husband John, Michelle McCord & husband Kenny, Tonya Edgett & husband Johnny, and Wendy Easterling & husband Clint. David worked for the Union pacific railroad for many years, faithfully providing for his family through hard work and dedication. In retirement, he embraced the simple joys of life - fishing, hunting, gardening, feeding his critters, and spending time with his ever-growing family. He and Sue were blessed with 28 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren, and nothing brought him more joy than being surrounded by them. In recent years, he often told Sue how thankful he was to live on his land, surrounded by a large, loving, and close-knit family. Those moments of gratitude reflected the life he built-rich in love, filled with purpose, and grounded in faith. David will be remembered for being in his overalls, his quiet strength, steady presence, and the deep love he had for his family. Though he will be dearly missed, his legacy lives on in each of us, and we will carry his wisdom, his stories, and the lessons he taught us for the rest of our lives. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in David's memory to First Baptist Church of Mount Calm, 534 Allyn Ave, Mount Calm, TX 76673.
