David Beal Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Waite Funeral Home Brunswick on Jan. 6, 2026.
David A. Beal, of Valley City, Ohio, passed away on December 29, 2025. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Mary Louise Cibella (daughter of the late Charles S. and Caroline D. Cibella).

Mr. Beal received the PhD degree in Physical Organic Chemistry from Case Western Reserve University in July 1977. He was admitted to membership in the Bar of the State of Ohio in November 1982 (having graduated from the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in June 1982) and practiced until his demise. For many years, he was a member of the First Unitarian Church of Shaker Heights, Ohio, which many readers will recall as the site of his marriage to his beloved wife.

In his middle years, Mr. Beal was an avid photographer, employing sheet film cameras to obtain large pictures of the Ohio landscape. When his health failed, he continued to take landscape photographs using 35 mm cameras with black and white roll film.

Mr. Beal was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Powell Beal and Ruth Decker Beal.

Survivors include a sister-in-law, Cathy Cibella; two nephews, Matthew (Melanie) Schaefer and Antonio (Bridget) Cibella; five grand-nieces (Myah Schaefer, Taylor Vaszi, Hayleigh Vaszi, Kylie Schaefer and Mira Cibella); and four grand-nephews (Stephen Vaszi, Daniel Eirman, Matthew Schaefer, and Enzo Cibella).

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at Waite Funeral Home, 3300 Center Road, Brunswick, Ohio. Calling hours will be from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, and a service will begin at 2:00 pm under the direction of Deacon Bill Perkins. A eulogy will be delivered by Dr. Arthur Liberty.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of David may be sent to the KSU Foundation, P.O. Box 5190, Kent, OH, 44242, or online at https://flashes.info/Cibella. Please indicate #16365 on the memo line of your check.
