David Corbin Bebermeyer Jr., 78 of Venice, FL passed away into eternal rest and peace June 7, 2023, in his home with his wife at his side after a 1 ½ year courageous battle with stage 4 kidney cancer.
David graduated in 1965 from Albert Einstein High School in Kensington, MD. In his last year of high school, he was in the Naval Air Reserves. After high school he served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War for 7 years and 10 months ranking to First Class Petty Officer. He was an instructor in Leadership and an Avionics Electronics Technician. He taught ATN, AFU "A" and "B" school.
He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Metal, Presidential Unit Citation, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Navy Unit Commendation, Republic of Vietnam Armed Forces Meritorious Unit Citation (Gallantry Cross) and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal for service on the USS Independence CVA 62. He also served on the USS Kitty Hawk CVA 63.
David worked for communication technology companies until he retired. He was a devoted husband with an immense and special sense of humor, laughter, patience, caring and protectiveness for all he cared for and all animals. His passions were sharing a wonderful life and marriage with his wife, being a scuba diver instructor, computer technology, 2-way radio communications and being "A Jack of All Trades but Master of None".
David is survived by his dedicated and loving wife of 27 years, Janice Bebermeyer; his brother Joel Bebermeyer (Lorretta); nephews, nieces, cousins and faithful 9-year-old cat Wendie.
David is preceded in death by his parents and brother James Bebermeyer (Carolyn).
A Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery, dates to come. Gendron Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc, 14538 Tamiami Tr., North Port, FL 34287 is handling the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in David's name can be made to Moffit Cancer Center Foundation, Tidewell Hospice or Non-Profit Veteran's Charities.
