David Beecroft Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 15, 2010.
Thursday 15th July 2010 I lost my husband David Beecroft at Scripps Mercy Hospital, San Diego, CA after a long and courageous battle with Renal Cell Carcinoma (Kidney Cancer to you and me). From Jarrow originally in South Tyneside, England he has worked all over the world and enjoyed every bit of it, ending up here in Encinitas, CA and fell in love with this lovely coastal community. He loved anything active that got him outside, especially his cycling be it road , mountain biking or motorcycling. He would regularly do century bike rides and if he wasn't on his bike, he would be watching every cycling event that was broadcast on the tv! But I didn't mind, he introduced me and gave me such a love for the bike too, and as if I didn't love him anyway, I love him even more for encouraging me to get on my bike. He was amazing that he continued this endeavour even after his diagnosis, he was back on his trainer in the house (in the lounge to be specific!) weeks after his surgery to have his kidney and tumor removed. He was so determined to get back to his prior level of fitness because he knew that this would help him in his fight. He was such a positive life force, he gave me strength to find that positive mental attitude and this more than anything is what helped us both to enjoy our life as normal as possible after that 'D' day in April. There's so much I can put in about Dave and I will continue to add to his story, it's just hard to at the moment, there's so much to do. But one thing I want you all to know is he never gave up, even in his darkest hour, he always had hope and his sense of humour. His wonderful sense of humour. Oh my gosh, he was the funniest guy I know and we did laugh every day, it was brilliant. Should anyone wish to make a charitable donation in his honour please do so to the Kidney Cancer Association. http://www.kidneycancer.org/
