David Beer Obituary

David William Beer, 104, of DuBois, PA, passed away on January 3, 2026, at the DuBois Nursing Home.

Born on November 10, 1921, in DuBois, he was the son of the late William J. Beer and Katharine (Reiner) Beer.

Dave married Nellie Cowan on June 28, 1944. Together they had 79 wonderful years; she preceded him in passing June 4, 2024.

He graduated from DuBois Area High School Class of "1939" and attended two years of drafting and tool design at Penn State DuBois Campus and was a member of First United Presbyterian Church.

Dave was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army with the 7225 TSU-TC Co. A 3rd TNG Regt, from 1946–1947, also served as sergeant with the 629th Transportation Co. as motor maintenance in DuBois, PA.

He was a former member of the DuBois Rifle and Pistol Club, where he served as president and assisted in building the present club house, a member of American Legion #17 of DuBois and life member of the NRA, a 75-year member of Garfield Lodge #559 F&AM and Williamsport Consistory, also a member of the DuBois Shriner Club and a 70-year member of the DuBois Lions Club, serving as president in 1976.

Dave was a 60-year member of the Antique Automobile Club of America, the Punxsutawney Region AACA, serving as president and former member of the Central Mountain Region Car Club in Clearfield, PA, serving as president and treasurer. He enjoyed restoring antique cars and attending antique car shows and flea markets since 1962.

He was a life member and volunteer of the DuBois Historical Society since 1994, was in charge of building and grounds for several years, was a member of the Oklahoma Fire Co. and J.E. DuBois Hose Co., and enjoyed attending the Over 50 Club.

Dave worked many years as an automotive and truck mechanic. He retired from Riverside Market on January 13, 1984, as a head mechanic and supervisor in the truck shop.

Dave and his wife Nellie enjoyed camping with their many friends for over 40 years. Dave is the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Dave is survived by his four nephews: William Beer, Kevin Beer, Philip Miller and David Miller.

In addition to Dave's wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Louise Malick and Janet McCluskey; brother, Kermit J. Beer; an infant brother; and nephew, Clifford Miller.

Friends and family are encouraged to attend the Adamson Funeral Chapel and Crematorium for Masonic Services at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday January 7, 2026. The visitation will follow from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. After visitation, The DuBois Area Honor Guard will perform military honors at 2 p.m. The funeral service will follow directly after military honors, with LaMarr Adamson CLP, and Reverend James Fillhart officiating. Burial will take place at Roseville Bethel Cemetery in Roseville, PA.

Memorials may be made to the DuBois Area Historical Society, 30 West Long Avenue, DuBois PA, 15801, or the Roseville Independent Chapel.
