BUZZARDS BAY - David R Benoit passed away December 29th, 2023, at the age of 66 years old at home in
Buzzards Bay, MA, surrounded by loved ones. He was born on August 24th, 1957, in New Bedford MA the only son to Phyllis (Belmarce) Benoit and his late father Robert Benoit.
David was the cherished and devoted husband of Lucia Benoit, his beloved wife for 26 years. Through faith, love and the utmost devotion to each other they fulfilled all their dreams of retiring together and enjoying each other's company in the home they rebuilt together in
Buzzards Bay, MA.
A devoted worker David was. He dedicated his years after high school to the armor division of the United States Army and was stationed in Texas and in Germany where he was recognized for his sharpshooter marksmanship and being an armor crewman. His earlier years were spent in
New Bedford, Massachusetts and
Sunnyvale, California with his mother, father, friends and many adoring cousins.
In addition to his time in the Army, David pursued a career in manufacturing engineering which is how he came to meet his wife Lucia at Boston scientific in the late 90s. David and Lucia would marry on June 22nd, 1997 and later move to
Taunton, MA together to raise their 4 children and later moved to
Fremont, New Hampshire where they enjoyed the serenity of a more secluded area. He ended his years of hard dedicated work at Bixby International in
Newburyport, MA and eventually retired at the age of 65.
David's greatest source of pride and joy was found in his role as a father. He leaves behind a legacy through his four children, whom he guided with love, faith and patience. However, his greatest joy came in the form of his role as a vovo. He reveled in the laughter and love shared with the younger generations, leaving them with cherished memories and a lasting sense of family bonds.
Besides his wife Lucia he is survived by four children, Lucia Colon of
Nashua, NH, Wilfredo Colon of
Taunton, MA, Shawn Chaves of
Taunton, MA, and lastly Karianne Benoit of
Fitchburg, MA. He is also survived by 16 loving grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, January 5, 2024, at Chapman Funerals & Cremations – WAREHAM, 2599 Cranberry Hwy, Wareham, MA, all family and friends are welcome.
