David Benjamin "Ben" Bentley, a cherished resident of Hyden, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at the age of 83. Born on September 27, 1941, in Hyden Kentucky he lived a life filled with meaning, dedication, and love for his family and community.
Ben a distinguished career as a retired strip miner, dedicating 25 years to KY Prince Coal Co. His commitment to his work was matched only by his passion for the outdoors, where he found joy in fishing, participating in shooting matches, and riding his 4-wheeler. However, it was the moments spent with his loved ones that brought him the greatest fulfillment. His family was the cornerstone of his life, and he relished every opportunity to share experiences and create lasting memories with them.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Jacqueline "Jackie" Strong Bentley, who stood by his side through all of life's journeys. Their bond was a testament to love and partnership. Ben also leaves behind his son, Paul David Bentley, and his wife, Dena, daughter, Pamela Bentley, both of whom carry forward his legacy. Sister, Caroline Scanlon. Ben's legacy continues through his grandsons, Brandon Walter Bentley and his wife, Brook, and Matthew David Bentley, who will remember their grandfather as a source of wisdom and warmth. He also cherished his great-grandchildren: Amelia Hope, Banks David, and Cole Bennett, who brought immense joy to his later years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Minnie Hensley Bentley, who played an integral role in shaping the man he became. He also mourns the loss of his brother, Ralph Bentley, and his sisters, Glenna Dobson, Grace Counts, Shelby Jean Meadows, and Annette Bentley, along with his nephew, Ricky Bentley.
Ben Bentley will be remembered not only for his hard work and commitment to his trade but also for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for his family. His spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Funeral: Friday, October 18, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home, Hyden, KY

Interment: Roberts Cemetery (Short Creek Road) Hyden, KY
Pallbearers: Brandon Bentley, Matthew Bentley, Patrick North, Bill Wagner and Paul Bentley

Visitation: Friday, Oct. 18th at 12:00 Noon at the Funeral Home Chapel
