David hired me in late 2007, as a Sr. VP, Commercial Lender in the new Amarillo office of Interstate Bank. He was a great Banker and truly caring supervisor. I'll always remember his saying to me on many occasions, during a challenging time, "Keep a pedalin'". That's exactly what I've done for the past 12 years...thanks David!

David Walter Bergin, age 61, of Gruver, Texas passed away surrounded by his family in Hansford Manor in Spearman, Texas on March 3, 2020. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at 1:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church of Gruver, Texas, officiated by Monsignor Michael Colwell. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, Inc. of Spearman, Texas.
David was born in Borger, Texas, to Charlotte and T.J. Bergin on August 20, 1958. David spent his childhood growing up on the family ranch outside of Gruver, Texas and attending the Gruver school system. David received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Texas A&M University. David was married to Erin Colwell Bergin on September 27, 1986 in Amarillo, Texas. They were married 33 years.
David worked as a rancher and banker with a majority of his career spent at Interstate Bank in Perryton, Texas. David enjoyed spending time with his family and working on his family ranch.
David is survived by his wife Erin Colwell Bergin; his daughter Lauren Bergin Thorne and her husband Jake Thorne; his son John David Bergin and his wife Daralyn Bergin; granddaughter Charlotte Thorne; his sisters Sherry Schmitz and Frankie Sims; and beloved nieces and nephews.
David is preceded in death by his parents T.J. and Charlotte Bergin.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hansford Hospice and Hansford Manor at 707 S. Roland, Spearman, Texas, 79081.
