So sad to hear this terrible news. David was a great guy and enjoyed his times with our running group here in Venice, FL. We were sad to see him leave Venice for New Hampshire but he kept in touch and occasionally came back to a least have a cup of coffee with his V-Pack running family. Our condolences go out to his family and know that he is in good hands.

Dave and I worked together at London Gatwick, and Heathrow airports from 1984, up until his family move to Florida. This news comes as a great shock to me, and many of his ex colleagues and friends.
I have some very happy memories from times spent with Dave.
My sincere condolences to all the family.
Love and best wishes xx

David was wonderful man! He was always there for me. I loved asking him for advice because I know that he cared for my goodness and everyone goodness. It so sad to understand that he is not with us on earth anymore. But I know that day will come when I will see snd talk to him again!
But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.
I Thessalonians 4:13-14

Dave was bright, witty, generous and kind -- very simply, one of the finest persons I was lucky enough to have had as a friend. We came to know each other so well that he was actually more of a brother than a friend, and the news of his passing is devastating -- a part of me went with him. Dave was a natural leader whose love of sports, music and Monty Python were our common links as we got to know each other working together at an energy plant in New Hampshire. He arranged my first trip overseas, where he and JoAnn graciously put me up in their home in Horley, Surrey in 1983, and either a young Matt (or a very young Lindsay, I can't remember which) doubled up with their sibling so that I could have his/her bedroom to myself -- a kindly gesture typical of the Bertrand home. Dave and I split our sides laughing at the poorly written old movies being shown on TV during that vacation, just as we cracked up over countless many other things throughout the decades. We drifted out of contact for a while, but as we approached retirement age we reconnected, and it was clear from his writings that spending time with his granddaughters was at or near the top of the list of things that he enjoyed doing. His passing is mourned by the entire Seymour family, all of whom knew and loved Dave, and my heart truly goes out to his family -- his mom Joan, his wife Jo, children Matthew and Lindsay, granddaughters Emma and Sophie and Matt's wife Harmony and Lindsay's husband Daniel. Dave was an exemplary human being who is sorely missed. Catch you on the other side, bro.

I am so very sorry for your loss, JoAnn and family. Dave was a beautiful person and he had a heart of gold. The first time I met Dave was on my first trip to London in 1989. Hearing so many wonderful stories about Dave and family via my future husband, Gary, it was like we had known each other our whole lives. I treasured our long talks and many times of laughter. He flew all the way from the UK to Chicago to attend my Gary's dear brother, Gene's funeral. I know he is with the Lotd. May God hold each of you in the palm of his hand as your grieve. Blessings to you all.

Dave was our letter carrier and one of the nicest, friendliest, kind person I have met. When he would deliver packages to the house he would stay a few minutes and just chat about everything we could think of in a short period of time. He was always concerned about people and talked often about his mum..He was a wonderful person. May you rest in peace David you will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Bertrand family. We are so sorry for your loss.

Dear JoAnn,
Dave was my "big cuz", both in height and heart. The banter we had was always fun, my other big cuz, John Waterlow and Brother in law, Chris Kelly invited me on their walks and I was always "too busy". I can't turn the clock back but it is a lesson to us all. Make time while you have it. I will miss his manner, humour and voice. Always asking about how our kids and grandkids were and of course the Arsenal updates, he was the classic family man, God Bless, from "little cuz" Phil, Jane and Family. PS, for Dave......I couldn't find "UK" as an option on this website, so I chose US Minor Outlying Island....

Dave was always generous, interesting and also interested in asking about the family and others. I shall miss his dry wit and funny one liners. He always had a smile on his face and a nice word to say about people. A genuine loss to everyone who knew him.

Our hearts are broken for your family ! We have such found memories of an amazing man ! My boys talked of memories of Dave running around Danny & Lindsay house chasing them and playing games as if he himself was still a kid , as Jo joked this is how we was when their kids were little too , a big kid himself . He always included our family as if we were his own and took a genuine interest in whatever we had going on in our lives . Heaven truly gained another angel and I know he will watch over and adore his grandchildren as he always did . May you Rest In Peace , you will be greatly missed

Ive known younger Cousin Dave all his life from him being thrown at me by his Mum as a baby in a cattle attack on holiday to taking him to play football with my teenage mates to a family man or the many Friday night family card games. I have wonderful family memories of Dave and his fabulous parents Les & Joan who lived a couple of miles away across N London. But when we walked 650 hard miles on the coast path together 24/7 for 6 weeks, every minute was a treasure spent with this very Special Man. We talked about everything, (often Arsenal), laughed all the time, ate too many cream teas, drank too much beer and frequently got lost and walked through all weathers. Time spent with Dave was always easy, so very unique and fun. Special times Special Guy, Im going to miss him.

I had the pleasure of working with Dave for about 15 years, primarily in London where I met my future wife, Debbie, then again in Birmingham when we moved to open the station for SAS flights. Dave was more than a work colleague he was a good friend to both of us and our boy, Liam. He would often call in for something to eat and to watch the footie on Sundays and we'd chew the fat about the game, work and life in general. Dave was always someone I could turn to for guidance when I wasn't sure how to proceed, a brilliant mentor. We have great memories of Dave and know that JoAnn, Matt, and Lindsay had a wonderful husband and father who will be greatly missed by all. Rest in peace Bertie, you will always hold a special place in our hearts.

Dave was so full of the love of Christ that it leaked out all over the place and we were fortunate enough to get contaminated by it. I am blessed to know Dave and Jo. JoAnn, Lindsay and Matthew, your Dad was the most wonderful brother-in-law to Ken and myself. He was so kind and considerate and thought of others before himself. The best memory we have is when we went to England on a bus tour with him, JoAnn, Joan(his mom) and Jean(a dear friend). He planned the whole trip for us and we just paid him like a travel agent. He made it so easy for us to go over there. We are so sad that we won't have another vacation with him and JoAnn. Here is a picture of him fooling around showing Ken the old telephone booth and how to make a call when in England. We are going to miss Dave but know that we will see him again when we join him in heaven.

I am so lucky to have had Dave as my father-in-law. He was a lovely man in every way. I loved talking with him about any subject, and he had a curiosity about the world that made our conversations lively and interesting. We always knew he would do anything for his family and friends, going out of his way to help us or our children whenever we needed him. Most recently, our daughter was stranded at Logan Airport late at night, and he didn't think twice about inviting them to stay the night at their house, even though this was unplanned and very late at night. That's how he was: putting the needs of others before his own. We loved calling him on the phone and telling him about our latest travels, races, and accomplishments, because he made us feel cherished. He celebrated everything we did. He also knew exactly how to put our worries and doubts into perspective. His loving voice was comforting. I am very lucky to have had him in my life for 12 years. We will forever miss this wonderful man.

Bertie was a delightful, intelligent, warm and caring friend and coworker. The best!!! We had many lively and wonderful discussions in those rare moments at work when we could talk...music, politics, work...you name it! We had such a connection and saw so many things through the same prism. I loved my time with him, and can't believe how quickly he slid into passing. I have nothing but warmth in my heart for having known him, and know for a fact that he has discovered that we truly do go on in spirit to a peaceful and all-knowing existence. We talked about this often when he was working and healthy. So here is to you, my dear friend, and given how close we are in age, it will not be long in "spirit years" before I get to see you again. My deepest love and sympathy to your family, my friend, especially your poor mom whom you worked so hard to comfort and help. If any of your family ever need me, I am here. - Ken Mitchell, coworker and buddy.
