David Bingham Obituary

David Daniel Bingham, a long-time resident of Springfield, VA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 after an extended period of declining health. He was 77.

He was born in Washington, DC on March 8, 1948 to Phyllis and Howard Bingham.

David graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Springfield in 1966. He continued his education at East Carolina and Bridgewater College, eventually graduating from George Mason University. After graduating, he started his civil service career at the Department of Transportation (NTSA). He then took a position with the Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics where he worked until he retired in 2005.

He was an avid tennis player and loved music, the Wizards and the Nationals. True crime books were his favorite. But most of all he loved and cherished his lifelong friends, among them Joy Dezzutti, Woody Hinkle and Henry Butler. He will be remembered for his enduring kindness, his generosity to many charities, and his quick wit and dry humor.

He is survived by his brother Gordon Bingham and his wife Teresa of Peterborough, NH, his cousins, Lillian (Richards) Wunsch of Omaha, NE and Eleanor Richards of Alexandria, VA.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at 1 p.m. at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home at 9902 Braddock Road, Fairfax, VA 22032. Interment will follow at Fairfax Memorial Park at 2 p.m.

So sorry I won't be able to attend David's service. I knew David through Lee High School. David was a great guy, it was a pleasure knowing him. After high school I didn't see much of him, but that seems to happen often. May David rest in peace.

I was in the fifth grade, when we moved to Springfiled and David was one of my best friends. We shared a passion for sports and at the time our collection of bubble-gum baseball cards was at the top of our interest list.
David and I were both probably permantly damaged by whatever is bad in baseball bubble-gum.

David was nice to everyone. He will be missed by many.
