Funeral services for David Allen Blackmon, age 72, of Olla will be held 2:00 PM Sunday August 4, 2024 from the sanctuary of Bethany Baptist Church with Bro. Pappy Chenevert officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethany Cemetery under direction of Riser & Son Funeral Home of Columbia. The Blackmon Family will receive visitors on Sunday at the church from 1:00 PM until time of service.David Allen Blackmon was born on April 20, 1952 at DeRidder to the union of his parents, Lanson Blackmon and Ora Pearl Slaughter. He passed from this life on August 1, 2024 at the Haven Nursing Center in Columbia following an extended illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Christopher Blackmon; his sister, Joann and his brother George. David was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
David was also an ordained minister and displayed great faith which was evident to his family and friends. He loved wood working and loved his puppies, Solomon and Jackson. He loved LSU, golfing, the Saints, fishing and spending time with his grandson Ian.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Wanda Duchesne Blackmon of Olla; his daughter, Honi Blackmon Meredith (Bart) of Columbia; two sisters, Betty Johnson of Shreveport and Sue Kayes of Texas; two grandchildren, Ian Meredith of Columbia and Dustin Meredith of Jena and his great-grandchild, Hadleigh Meredith.
Pallbearers include Edge Crum, Allen Johnson, Chris Moore and Ian Meredith.
The Blackmon Family would like to extend to the Haven Nursing Center and Ascend Hospice a heartfelt thank you for the service, care and love they displayed to our husband and father over the last several months.
