David Blain Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carnie P. Bragg Funeral Home, Inc. - Paterson on Dec. 27, 2025.
David Zeno Blain departed this life on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Pruitt Skilled Nursing of Harrisburg, North Carolina. Born on July 18, 1933, David was a man of immense drive and character. His journey took him from the schools of Cades, South Carolina, to the executive offices of New Jersey, and finally to the quiet care of North Carolina.
A Legacy of Ambition David was a graduate of high school in Cades, SC. In the spring of 1964, he moved to New Jersey, where he began building a life defined by hard work and entrepreneurship. He held many roles, from pumping gas to owning and operating his own trucking company, B&C Trucking. His most notable professional achievement was at Tom Fields LTD (Tinkerbell Children's Cosmetics). Starting as a janitor, David's sharp mind and work ethic propelled him through the ranks until he retired as the company's Vice President. Even in retirement, his desire to serve others led him to a part-time role delivering oxygen tanks for Home Medical. David was also a lifelong student, holding various certifications and speaking Spanish fluently.
Faith and Service David was a devoted man of God. In his youth, he attended Hickory Grove United Methodist Church (now Faith UMC). Later, he became a faithful pillar of Lebanon Baptist Church. He was a constant presence in the Men's Usher Board, the Men's Chorus, and the Lebanon Gospel Chorus. Of all his roles, he was most proud of his service on the Trustee Board.
Family and Character Known for being stern and opinionated, David's exterior was matched by a deep, unwavering care for his family and friends. He was a world traveler who explored Japan, Germany, Hawaii, and Italy. He spent his final months in Concord, NC, cared for by his beloved son.
David was preceded in death by his wife; Christeen Blain, daughter; Mearlyn (Blain) Majette, parents; Easter Cooper Blain and James Blain, and siblings; Eddie Cooper, Dorothy Speights, Elease Blain, and Mattie Frierson.
Left to mourn are his son; Rodney Blain, daughter; Nina Blain Lewis (Keith Theall), grandchildren; Terrod Bailey, Nia Lewis, Karimah Majette-Otero (Daniel Otero), William Lawro, and Yisrael Blain, greatgrandchildren; Elias Otero, Dariel Otero, and Terrice Bailey, brother in law; Timothy Daniels, sister in law; Rachel Fulmore, and a host of other relatives, and friends.
