David Jack Blake, a beloved figure in the Bluefield community, passed away on January 22, 2026, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia. He was born on March 16, 1952, in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. David lived a life characterized by hard work, dedication, and deep connections with his family and friends. He had a smile that could light up any room.
As the owner of Blake's Tire Service in Bluefield, David earned the respect and admiration of many for his commitment to providing exceptional service and his unwavering dedication to his customers. His work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit served as an inspiration to others in the trade. David enjoyed teaching Martial Arts to students as he was a Second-Degree Black belt and was also a Civil War reenactor for many years.
David's legacy is enriched by his role as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He leaves behind his cherished wife of 54 years, Linda Kay Blake, who stood by his side through life's joys and challenges. Their bond was a testament to love and partnership. David is also survived by his son, David Christopher Blake, and his fiancé, Nancy Roop, who was his pride and joy, and looked up to David as a pillar of strength and support. He takes great pride in his grandchildren, Ashley Rose Blake and Rayen Christopher Blake, whom he loved dearly.
In addition to his immediate family, David is survived by his sister, Susan Barbour, and his nephews, Daniel Jonathan Jernigan and Michael Lee Jernigan, and his aunt, Ms. Jessie Carter, all of North Carolina. A special family friend, Arthur Lewis, also holds a significant place in the hearts of those who knew David.
David graduated from Roseboro High School in North Carolina and was also a proud member of First Community Baptist Church for 21 years, where he found a sense of community and purpose. His faith was central to his life, guiding him in his interactions with others and his approach to life's challenges.
David is preceded in death by his father, David (DC) Blake, and his mother, Carolyn Blake, who instilled in him the values of integrity and hard work that he carried throughout his life.
The memories of David Jack Blake will continue to resonate through the lives he touched. His dedication to family, friends, and community has left an indelible mark that will be felt for generations to come. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
