David Block Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Traub Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. - Central Square on Jan. 31, 2026.
David M. Block, 69, of Parish, New York passed away at home on January 28, 2026. He was a 1974 graduate of Paul V. Moore High in Central Square, New York, attended SUNY Brockport and served in the United States Navy.

David was happiest during baseball season, faithfully watching the Oakland A's and during football season, his focus was on his Minnesota Vikings. When sports wasn't on, his music was. He was an avid classic vinyl collector and to say he was a lover of music was a complete understatement. It wasn't just the music for him, it was the bands themselves and their journeys that he so completely appreciated. He was a faithful fan of the Beatles, a die-hard Hot Tuna follower, had a massive crush on Bonnie Raitt and was a truly devoted Yes (Jon Anderson) aficionado to name a few. David was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Betty Block and his brother, Bill Block, Jr.

He is survived by his son Paul (DeLana) Russ of Casselberry, Florida, his sister, Lisa (Rob) Reed of North Syracuse, New York as well as nephews, Adam Reed and Kris (Jennifer) Block, his niece, Betsy (Tyler) Bellin, and four great nieces and nephews.

Sincere thanks go out to Don and Karen Wise for being David's bonus family. He will be missed.

Family and friends are invited to drop by to share their memories with us on Saturday, February 7th at 5002 Chesapeake Drive, North Syracuse from 1:00 to 4:00pm.
