Dear Mary, Olivia, Grayson, Adam, Anita, and family, I met Dave for the first time this past Labor Day, September 1, 2025, at Dauphin Highlands. I like Dave, from time to time, would play in the PHILAM Weekend Golf League but it was even more rare for me. like Dave. to be away from our families on Labor Day. As it turned out, I was extremely fortunate to be teamed in a foursome with your husband/father that day. I was his cart partner. We hit it off right from the start. Dave was on fire early, but I like on many occasions, was slow out of the gate. As the 4.5 hour round continued, we talked about Penn State Football and the possibilities and question marks for a National Championship in the 2025 season. We talked about our ties to Northeast, PA (Scranton and Lake Lehman). We talked about the sale of Dauphin Highlands and the thought of losing another great Central, PA golf course. Dave had some unique insight into the transaction and the large corporations and politics involved. David had a wealth of knowledge in that brain of his. Not until his passing did I realize how accomplished he was (no surprise). But of all the discussions we had as we struggled through typical golfing frustrations and blurt outs like "what the heck was that?" (being nice there), we talked about our families and most specifically our children and in my case also grandchildren. He was so proud to talk about his children and stepchildren. He mentioned each by you by name, your school of choice, career choices, and successes. He was so proud of you! You could surely tell. As fathers, we often boast about our children away from their earshot, but I am certain you all know how proud he was of you and that he loved you all very much. That was easy to see! As our round ended, Dave and I were tied. As it turned out we both unexpectedly finished as the low gross round(s) for the day. But more importantly, we told each other that it was one of the most enjoyable rounds of golf we ever had and looked forward to playing together again soon. That next round of golf with Dave will take place in Heaven!!! My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you all. I had just 4 ½ hours with Dave but the memory of that golf round will be with me always. God Bless you all! Bob Weidner
