David Brickman Obituary

Brickman, David ALBANY David Brickman, 61, died peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, August 24, 2021. Born on June 9, 1960, in Albany, he was the son of the late Barbara and Martin Brickman. He graduated from Albany High School in 1978, received his B.A. from SUNY Albany in 1983, and his Juris Doctor from Detroit College of Law in 1987. David maintained a highly successful law practice in Guilderland for 34 years. His love and energetic approach to life motivated him to pursue many interests. He adored his life and home on the Hudson River, boating and jet skiing as often as he could. David loved cooking and entertaining, and hosted memorable parties at his home with his dear friends. He accomplished levels of mastery in various martial arts, taking a special interest in Thai Chi in the past few years. He leaves behind his beloved Renee Santore and her daughter, Sydney Sidoti; sisters, Jacquelyn Brickman and Janice Carey; brothers, Josh and Jake Brickman; nephews, Samson, Max and Alex Contompasis, and Michael Carey; an uncle, Arthur Brickman (Carol); and cousins, Annie, Ellen, David and Stephen Brickman, and Andrea Scheviak. He was predeceased by an uncle, Norman Brickman (Dorice); and an aunt, Miriam Brickman (Ronald Senator). David had many friends whom he held close to his big heart; he especially loved Rich Kupferman, Peter and Andrew Sommers, Holly Trexler, Trevor Hannigan, and Brian Lutz. David was one of the proverbial good guys with a larger-than-life personality who made the world a better place. He was brilliant. His time on Earth is over, but his star will shine brightly over everyone he knew. Friends may call on Wednesday, September 1, from 4 to 7 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Friends and family may speak in remembrance of David from 7:15 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of David Brickman to the Massry Family Children's Emergency Center at Albany Medical Center, and may be sent c/o Albany Med Foundation, MC 119, 43 New Scotland Ave., Albany, NY, 12208. I´ve known Dave for about 10 years. I was originally his mother´s tenant and after she passed, I became Dave´s tenant. Dave was my friend, my attorney, and my landlord. Dave was a very special man with a heart of gold. Anyone who had the opportunity to know Dave was very lucky. He will be sorely missed by all. RIP Dave. My love and prayers are with Renee, Sydney, Jackie, Janice, and all his family and friends.

I knew Dave from martial arts over the years. He will be missed a great deal in our taichi classes. He always had a funny way of asking questions and knew when to take things not so seriously. Condolences to everyone through this difficult time.

I only knew him for a short time but it was like a lifetime. He was outstanding in his profession and I felt safe and confident in what needed to be done.
