David "Dave" Wesley Brodrick, age 73 of Apopka, Florida, passed away on February 21, 2025, after a heroic battle against cancer.
He was born October 13, 1951, in Detroit, Michigan, son of Robert and Shirley Brodrick.
He grew up in the states of Michigan, Washington and Louisiana.
On October 23, 1968, Dave enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served in Vietnam until his honorable discharge on October 15, 1971, earning the rank of PFC. Following his discharge from the Army he moved to Alaska where he worked on the pipeline. He moved back to Michigan where he met, and married Janet "Jann" McAgy in Sturgis and they soon moved to Florida.
Dave was an avid fisherman since childhood. He had fond memories of fishing at the family cottage in Gladwin, Michigan. In Florida he fished both inland and off-shore waters. He and Jann owned various boats ranging from 7 to 34 feet and explored many waterways in and around Florida. Dave also loved hunting wild game.
While growing up Dave traveled with his family throughout the US and Canada. With Jann, they toured Europe, China, Canada, the Caribbean, Scandinavia and Russia. They also enjoyed many adventures in their motor home.
Dave is survived by his wife: Jann; sons: David (Erin) Brodrick, Jr. and Philip Penpraze; his mother: Shirley Brodrick; sister: Natalie (Eric) Cassady; grandchildren: Madelyn and Wesley Brodrick, as well as nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father: Robert Brodrick and sister: Kathy Carrlione.
In honoring Dave's wishes cremation has taken place. A private celebration of life will take place at a later date. Full military honors will be conferred by Captain John J. Kelley Post #1355 V.F.W. Honor Guard and U.S. Army Honor Guard.
