David H. Bruhl, aged 79, of Valdosta, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at South Georgia Medical Center. Born on November 1, 1946, in Pennsylvania, David was the son of the late Arthur Herman Bruhl and Beulah Shaddox Bruhl.
David was born in Towanda, Pennsylvania, and later moved to New York State where he worked as a welder at Mercury Aircraft. During this time, he also dedicated himself to his community as a volunteer EMT. In the mid-1980s, David relocated to Valdosta and began a long-standing career in maintenance with the Valdosta Police Department, where he served faithfully for 24 years before retiring.
A man of many talents, David was an avid collector of Lionel trains and had a profound love for activities that involved fixing and creating with his hands. He was of the Greek Orthodox Church.
David is survived by his loving son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Elizabeth Bruhl of Corpus Christi, Texas; his cherished grandchildren Abigail Eileen Curry of Corpus Christi, Robert Charles (R.C.) Curry of Taylorsville, North Carolina, Josannah (Josie) Rose Bruhl of Corpus Christi, and Nicholas Taylor (Nick) Bruhl of Corpus Christi. He also took great joy in his five great-grandchildren: Zephaniah Williams, Zyon Williams, Gabriele Weaver, Andrew Lee, Karley Gail, and Makenzie Jo.
He will be fondly remembered by his siblings Elizabeth Brown and William “Bill” Bruhl of New York, and his sister-in-law Shirley Bruhl of Valdosta. David was preceded in death by his wife Mary Helen Bruhl, his son Joseph Bruhl, and his brother Hubert Bruhl.
A private family gathering will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2025 at 2:00pm at his home residence. The family welcomes online condolences which may be shared on the obituary page at www.mclanecares.com.
