David Allen Buckey

Dave Buckey, 81, of South Russell, OH, passed away on July 30, 2024 at Akron General Cleveland Clinic Hospital with his daughter, Holly Buckey at his bedside. He was born on August 1, 1942 in Ashtabula, OH to the late Joseph and Rose (Visnyai) Buckey. Along with his parents, Dave was preceded in death by his two brothers and three sisters.
Dave grew up in Ashtabula, graduating from Ashtabula High School in 1960 and later receiving an Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering. He then married Mary Elizabeth Schlecht, also of Ashtabula, in 1965 and lived in Newbury, OH until 1976. He spent the remaining years residing in South Russell township.
He was a member of Newbury United Community Church, Geauga County Historical Society Village, Village Lodge #274 in Burton, and the 32nd Degree Mason Valley of Cleveland Scottish Rite. Dave retired as an Electrical Engineer in 2009 from Johnson & Johnson; originally beginning his career at Ohio Imaging, later to become Picker Corp, then Marconi Medical.
He took great pride in his work as an electrical engineer. In retirement he enjoyed classic cars, being outdoors, spending time with his dogs and driving.
Private Family Services have been held.
