David James Buckland

David James Buckland, 88, of Westminster, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at his home, surrounded by love. Born February 6, 1937 in Roseville, Michigan he was the son of the late Charles W. and Sylvia (Colwell) Buckland. He was the loving husband of the late Patricia Lee (Mann) Buckland, who predeceased him June 30, 2023. David was a proud Veteran of the United States Army, having served with honor in the Vietnam War. He worked as a supervisor for State Highway Administration, until his retirement. He was a member of Deer Park United Methodist Church. He enjoyed bus trips with his wife, Pat; tending his beautiful lawn and gardens; casting a line with friends, brothers-in-law, children, and grandchildren; and giving back to his community through his Deer Park Lions Club membership, which began in 1983, and Carroll County Food Sunday. His life was defined by generosity, kindness, and a quiet gentleness that touched every person and every moment he encountered. Surviving him are daughters Michelle Buckland of Finksburg, Julie Buckland and wife, Dee Derden of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Debra White and husband Steven of Clinton Township, Michigan; sister Nancy Shapiro (Arnie) of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan; grandchildren Bea Paskewitz, Nick Hoffman, Rachel Hinde, JoAnna Hinde; great-grandchildren Owen and Sophia. In addition to his wife and parents he was predeceased by siblings Reginald Buckland, Charles Buckland, Carol Dupont and Richard Buckland. David's family will welcome friends on Saturday, August 23rd, 2025, from 11:30 a.m. until the beginning of his Memorial Service and Military Honors at 12:00pm at Deer Park United Methodist Church, 2205 Sykesville Road, Westminster. Interment will be private.
