David L. Buren

David L. Buren, born on February 11, 1955, in Festus, Missouri, passed away surrounded by his family on February 8, 2025, in Independence, Missouri, just days shy of his 70th birthday. He leaves behind a legacy that speaks to his character, work ethic, and love for those dear to him.

David dedicated his professional life to the trucking industry, most notably as a driver for R+L Carriers, where he served the local community. It was at this job where he would meet his now wife and best friend, Donna. Those who knew David recognized his stubborn yet loving nature. When he loved, he loved fiercely, a quality that endeared him to family and friends. He was a remarkable handyman, capable of fixing just about anything, often approaching challenges with a determination that was both inspiring and entertaining. It was not uncommon for him to encounter a task that seemed daunting; nonetheless, he would tackle it head-on, sometimes accompanied by a colorful choice of words, until he found a solution. His intelligence shone through his many projects, including building two motorcycles from scratch, showcasing his incredible technical skill and ingenuity. David was a man of deep faith. He found joy and purpose in studying the Bible, constantly seeking to learn and grow in his spiritual journey. This commitment to his faith was an integral part of who he was, offering guidance and grounding throughout his life.

David's passing was preceded by his parents, Richard "Lee" and Joyce (O'Flaherty) Buren. His incredible legacy lives on through his wife, Donna Goodman; his son, Logan Buren, and grandson Jacob Buren; his step-granddaughter, Brooke Mcmeans; his siblings, Bobbie Jo Buren Hall and Wendell O'Flaherty; his niece, CJ Hall; and his dear friend who he saw as a second son, Nick Tyler.
