David Orville Burghdoff, 88, of Plainwell, Michigan, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026 at Beacon Kalamazoo. He was born on February 14, 1938, in Hastings, Michigan, the son of Gerald D. Burghdoff and Mabel I. (Pierce) Burghdoff.

David proudly served in the United States Air Force for 20 years before his retirement and honorable discharge. During his time in the service, he married Glenna Hall on February 1, 1958, she preceded him in death in April of 1975. In August of 1994, David married Rose Wolschlager and the two spent the remaining years together until his passing. David was a lifelong member of the American Legion Post #298, VFW, Masonic Temple, Moose, and stayed active with several military organizations including the Tallons Out Honor Flight.

David is survived by his wife, Rose Burghdoff; sons, Terry (Dawn) Burghdoff, Todd Burghdoff Sr.; step-son, Phil (Peggy) Webster; step-daughter, Pam (Scott) Hoge; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert Burghdoff Sr.; first wife, Glenna; and brothers and sisters, Geraldine, Constance, Richard, Jack, Ronald.

David was very mechanically inclined, good with his hands and always had something to tinker with. He was a family-man first, loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, enjoyed traveling all around the United States and taking care of his flowers and lawn. David was a classic car enthusiast and took pride in his personal collection. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all those that knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service on Thursday, March 19, 2026 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm.

A graveside service with full military honors will take place on Friday, March20, 2026 at 11:00 am at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
