David W. Burgoyne, 64, of Forest Lake, passed away after a short battle with cancer, on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at home, surrounded by his loving family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 27 at 10 am at the Church of the Assumption, 51 West 7th Street, St. Paul. Mass will be livestreamed and can be viewed below. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm on Tuesday, March 26 at Mueller-Bies Funeral Home - Lino Lakes, 7050 Lake Drive (Co Hwy 23), and at the church from 9-10 am Wednesday. Following Mass, a celebration of David’s life will take place starting at 12 noon in the Atrium at Best Western Country Inn and Suites / Rudy’s Redeye Grill, 4940 Hwy 61, White Bear Lake.

David was born on June 18, 1959 in St. Paul, the son of Joseph and Geraldine Burgoyne. He married Amy Hanson on July 22, 1989 in Moline, Illinois

His high school years were spent at St. Paul Central where he played football and baseball. He played baseball for Hamline University where he graduated as an Art Major.

David was employed by Newtrax, White Bear Lake, where he transported seniors and adults with disabilities as well as some event-based transportation needs. David often said this was his most favorite job. David was a giver. He always put others’ needs before his own. In his spare time, David was an avid photographer, always finding the simple beauty of life around him.

Favorite times of David’s life were coaching baseball and softball for his children, fishing on Johnson Lake at his family’s cabin with his dad and brother, doing yard work at his home, and searching for heart stones near Lake Superior. He loved spending time with family and was extremely proud of his wife and children. Always a gentleman, David thought of others before himself in every situation. He was embraced by Amy’s large family and enjoyed many summers at Green Lake, Wisconsin with the Hansons.

Survivors include his wife, Amy; children, Carter, of Payson, Utah, and Anne Marie, Forest Lake; brother Joe Burgoyne (Sue), Maplewood; sister Julie Kramer, Grand Rapids; and his mother Geraldine, St. Paul; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph R. Burgoyne.

Special thanks to Janet, his extraordinary nurse on 3rd floor at St. John’s Hospital, Maplewood, as well as the staff at Beyond Hospice, for their love and care for David.
