David Burton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sellars Funeral Home - Lebanon on Dec. 20, 2025.
David Milton Burton, age 87, of Lebanon, passed away peacefully at home on December 19, 2025, surrounded by family and loved ones. The Funeral Service, conducted by Brother Scott Moore and Judd Sellars, is 12 p.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2025 in the chapel of Sellars Funeral Home, Lebanon TN. Interment in Wilson County Memorial will follow the service. Pallbearers: Colby Dedmon, William Hughes, Matt Burton, Matthew French, Tyler French, and Ben Johnson. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Monday from 4-8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the service at noon.
David Milton Burton was born in Castalian Springs TN to Emma Norene Dickerson Burton and Robert Burton. He was eager to join the service at a young age so he signed up for the Army National Guard as soon as he could after leaving school. He served active duty for a couple of years, then was proud to be a Reservist. David started a band in the early days called "Milton Burton and The Ramblers" and they travelled all over Middle Tennessee playing music and square dancing. Milton loved being outdoors, watching the wildlife, fishing, and looking for arrowheads. He was never one to stress over life. He retired as a Pipe Fitter from Perma-Pipe after more than 30 years where he was also the Union Steward at the Local 572.
Milton is survived by his children Gary (Shari) Burton and Jena (Mark) Reese, 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, brother James Robert Burton, daughters-in-law Michele Burton and Sherry Burton, brother-in-law Kenneth Bowen, and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Stella Burton, sons Mike Burton and Stanley "Tooter" Burton, daughter Tena Burton Hughes, parents Norene and Robert Burton, and sister Norma Jean Ash.
The family would like to thank the nurses with Gentiva Hospice for their compassion and care. Also, thank you to the other physicians that played a role in his healthcare.
