David Bussard Obituary
David Gordon Bussard, Jr., took his last breath on February 13, 2024. A true legend in life whose mantra was "Have more Fun" and he truly did. Born on December 9, 1945 in Wareham, MA to the late David and Cotilda (nee Costa). Survived by loving wife of 46 years, Patricia "Party Patty" Bussard (nee Rath); children, Stacey Mount, Sonya (Mike) Southward, Jason (Janet) Chevallard, Sarah Bussard and Matthew Bussard; grandchildren, Austin Fitzpatrick, MaKenzie Southward, Madison (Brady) Hall, Annabel and Julia Chevallard, Noah and Callie Smith; great-grandson, Isaac; brothers, Gary Bussard and Richard (Margaret) Bussard; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe (Susie) Rath, Dan (Kathie) Rath, Laura Stampfle, Connie (Guy) Poliseno, Alice (Doug) Wigley; many nieces and nephews; cousins, Dawn, Philip, Raymond, Stanley, Ginger, Linda, Carol and their families. Also to celebrate his life, his dear Festival Family of 50 years, fondly known as Daddy O'Dave, David Good Fry and Sick Puppy to name a few.
He grew up in Greenfield, Ohio where he played music and raced cars. He graduated from Greenfield McLain in 1963. Dave was a very talented musician and when he moved to Columbus, he played organ in several bands in and around Columbus for 25 years in the 70s and 80s. He traded in the keyboards for guitars and shared his musical talent with many around campfires. Following his music career, he took up computers and retired from Ohio Public Works Commission. He and Patty enjoyed traveling and camping, spending winters in Florida and summer trips to Cape Cod, Maine, and Rhode Island. Special thanks to Dan and Laura for all their support during his failing health and his care team at Amber Park and Shrivers hospice for their care. He lived on his own terms and died on his own terms. There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, February 24 from 6-11 p.m. at Poblano's Restaurant, 1200 Noe Bixby Road. Friends may call Sunday, February 25 from 2-5 p.m. at Egan-Ryan Funeral Home, 403 East Broad Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, February 26 at 10 a.m. at St. Catharine Church, 500 South Gould Road. Burial at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Catharine Church.
