Obituary of David "Dave" Butcher
David "Dave" Butcher Towzey, 74, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2022 in his home in St. Petersburg surrounded by his family. He was born in Philadelphia, graduated with a Bachelor's in English from La Salle University, and earned a Master's in Communications from Glassboro State in New Jersey. He was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy O'Malley Robinson, step-father Bill Robinson, and sister Marilyn Beckwith, and is survived by his wife, Phyllis Towzey, his son, Tom, his daughter, Megan, and their dogs Eli, Alby, Maya, and Coco; his sister Dar Landes and nephews Matthew Beckwith, Ian Landes, and Kevin Landes, as well as his cousins. Dave was the most thoughtful and selfless husband, father, and friend. He had a strong Catholic faith and was a Fourth Degree of the Knights of Columbus. Dave owned and managed a successful law office with his wife Phyllis, previously had a career in Public Relations, and began his career as a Sports Reporter for the Philadelphia Inquirer. He had an entrepreneurial spirit and a generous heart. He enjoyed riding his bike, reading, watching movies, getting lunch at the beach with his wife, vacationing in Vero Beach, and most of all talking and spending time with his little family and close friends. His kind eyes, warm smile, and caring spirit will be remembered by all that had the privilege of knowing him.
Dave's memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 6th at Anderson McQueen funeral home in St. Petersburg. Visiting hour will begin at 10am and the service will commence at 11am. THE SERVICE WILL BE LIVESTREAMED, TO WATCH PLEASE CLICK THE LINK.
