David E. Buzzard, 57, of Columbus, passed away at 10:42 p.m. on Friday, August 1, 2025, at the Columbus Regional Hospital. He was born on October 23, 1967, in Columbus, the son of Donald Eugene and Eleanor "Kay" (Salmons) Buzzard. He was a lifelong resident of Bartholmew County and was a 1986 graduate of Columbus East High School. He retired from Toyota Industrial Equipment after 20 years of service and worked at Jim Daily Farms. David was a member of the Alert Methodist Church. He enjoyed woodworking along with spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He married his high school sweet heart, Jacqueline Hoppus on November 30th, 1985 in Columbus, she survives along with his mother, Eleanor "Kay" Buzzard; his daughter, Kayla (Buzzard) and husband J. Aguilar of Mexico; his sons, Joshua and wife Emmalee Buzzard of Hartsville and Jeremiah and wife Tracey Buzzard of Trafalgar; his brother, Paul and wife Sue Buzzard of Taylorsville; and his seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Eugene Buzzard and brother Michael Buzzard. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home with Rev. Connie Barr Officiating. Following David's wishes he will be cremated, with a burial to follow later in the Westport Cemetery. A time of visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alert Methodist Church through the funeral home.
