David Harold Cade was born in Fort Smith Arkansas on Nov. 11, 1946 to the late Mr. Clarence Cade and the late Mrs. Helen Cade. He Confessed Christ at an early age, uniting with the Saint James Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. J. M. Oliver. He attended school in Fort Smith and graduated from Lincoln High School. It was during these younger years that his love for quartet music blossomed. Young David sang and traveled along with his uncle Allison singing with the Spiritual Travelers quartet until he enlisted in the United States Army in 1964 where he served until 1968. Upon being discharged from the United States Army, in March of 1968, at St Phillips Missionary Baptist Church in San Francisco CA, he meet Miss Joyce L. Thompson. The two fell in love and were married on March 15th, 1969. Shortly after, David began working for St. Mary's hospital where he served as a patient escort and hospital Chaplin. He was frequently called upon to minister to the patients in the hospital. He was also known as "their favorite Santa Clause" throughout the hospital. He worked at St Mary's for 25 years until he retired due to his health. David was also a devoted member of St Phillips Missionary Baptist Church which he joined in Nov. of 1968 under the leadership of Rev. Alexander Thompson. On Feb 15th, 1970 , David was ordained as a deacon and served faithfully on the deacon board until he was called to preach. He became a licensed minister on June 17th, 1979, and was ordained on Nov. 12th, 1989 as a Minister of the Gospel. He served as the Assistant Pastor until his passing. David enjoyed life. He enjoyed watching old western movies, listening to gospel quartets, and being with his grandkids who affectionately called him "Grampy." He loved to tell stories about his country upbringing with his children and grandchildren. Often sharing stories of old country remedies and of his fondest childhood moments with them. The grandkids especially loved to hear him sing old songs from his childhood to them, their favorite being "O Lordy pick a Bale of Cotton".
