David Calzada, beloved son, husband, father, uncle, colleague, and friend passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, January 15, 2024 surrounded by his family. David approached the world and his life with endless positivity, passion to help others, and fierce love for his family and friends and also life itself. Born in Chicago, Illinois on June 18, 1969 to Lucio Calzada Sr and Olivia Calzada, he was raised in a loving home with his older and favorite brother, Lucio Calzada Jr - and his favorite sister, Ana (Lisa) Calzada.
David met his love and soulmate, Marcia, in the summer of 1988 in a mutual friend's driveway and they became inseparable shortly after. Married on August 31, 1991 - they created a family and life they loved from the ground up. Their son, Jonathan, was born on December 15, 1994 and was David's pride and joy, a built-in best friend. Their daughter Kasey, joined the family in 2014 and was such a blessing to him - the daughter he always wanted. Together, they loved working on a variety of projects together, and found mutual joy in giving Jonathan a hard time. David and Marcia celebrated 32 amazing years of marriage together. As a family, they loved spending time together traveling, watching movies, and making memories with family and friends - fur babies included.
David devoted most of his career to Applied Materials: working from 1996 in a variety of roles, his latest a Technical Program Manager. During his time there, he made so many dear friends, some that would become lifelong and family friends, some of his favorite people to attend post work happy hours with, while sharing stories over countless drinks and laughs.
Some of David's favorite hobbies included many hours of salt-water fishing on the bay, lake water fishing on a kayak or hunting deer, turkey or wild boar while at his deer lease. He also loved grilling at home, or while camping with his family and friends. David also spent time working on many home improvement projects. David never turned away an opportunity to pitch in and was alway the first to volunteer and offer to help others
David was preceded in death by his father, Lucio Calzada, Sr, and his grandmothers, Bertha Gonzalez and Isabel Aleman, and his Aunt Irma Rodriguez.
David is survived by his wife of 32 years, Marcia; son, Jonathan; daughter, Kasey; his mother, Olivia; siblings, Lucio Jr. and his wife, Donna, sisters, Lisa Pizza and Tortilla Becky, nieces, Amanda Calzada and Catherine Lengefeld; and nephew Chandler Lengefeld. David's legacy will certainly live on in all of his family and friends - per his request, there will be no service; instead there will be a celebration of life at Red Horn in the near future. In the meantime, please celebrate his life or a favorite memory with an ice cold beverage in hand. David will be forever loved, forever missed, and forever in our hearts.
