David Carlo Obituary

David G Carlo, 58 of Marshfield, passed away peacefully on November 7th, 2025, with loved ones by his side. He will be sorely missed by friends and family.

David was a resident of Marshfield for the past 34 years. He was born on October 22, 1967 to his now deceased parents Thomas and Anne Carlo of Marshfield. He leaves behind his wife Marie (Hussey) Carlo after just celeabrating their 33rd year wedding anniversary, son Josh Carlo, and siblings James Carlo, Catherine Martin, Mathew Carlo, and Amanda Randall. As well as nieces, nephews, and many friends.

David met his wife in 1983 at the Marshfield Family Skateland in Marshfield while David worked there handing out skates on the busy Friday and Saturday nights. Needless to say, Marie always got the best skates. Dave attended Marie's high school prom with her, and eventually married her in 1992.

Dave loved working with and building anything made of wood. He started his career working with Regan Construction, building houses with Donny Regan where he learned woodworking. During this time, he built houses all around town. He then transitioned to being a Finish Carpenter where he fell in love with creating masterpieces made of wood. He worked with Loring Verry at South Shore Moulding Company for over 20 years, building everything from a set of cellar stairs to an enormous built-in bookcase. Give him a blank wall and some wood, and he'd turn it into art. Working in local places like Marshfield as well as all the way into Boston area, Dave was known far and wide. If you find his signature DCCD on something, you know that it was made by him.

Dave retired from the physical labor of woodworking in February of 2021 to become the local Marshfield Building Inspector. Dave had to change his role from being the best wood guy around, to instead learning how to turn on a computer. And after four years, he got pretty good at copy and pasting. He loved this job as he had the chance to go out and meet other carpenters, giving advice on how to make every jobsite and every build better. He also always had dog treats in his pockets to help make friends with any of the dogs he got to meet during his travels.

There will be a Celebration of Life at the Marshfield Elks Lodge, 1321 Ocean St in Marshfield, on November 22nd, from 1-5pm, where family and friends will gather to honor his memory and share stories.

In Lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Dave's name.
