Elizabeth "Betty" K. Holland of Marshfield, Massachusetts passed away peacefully on November 13, 2025, in Boston, after a brief illness. Born in Boston on April 29, 1939, she was daughter of the late Mildred (Bucci) and John Holland, and sister of the late John J. Holland.

Betty lived a life marked by deep faith, enduring friendships, and a generous spirit. She was a profoundly kind and thoughtful woman whose quiet generosity and gentle presence touched so many who knew her. Betty was, more than anything, a kind, loving, and thoughtful soul. She had an innate ability to make you feel special with the smallest of gestures. Betty had an extraordinary gift for choosing the perfect present, each one a testament to how deeply she understood and cared for the people in her life.

Betty pursued her education with dedication, earning her undergraduate degree from Regis College before continuing on to Tufts University, where she obtained her master's degree. Her academic achievements laid the foundation for a successful career at Stone and Webster where she was the assistant to the head of secretarial services and specialized in technology. She contributed her talents with professionalism and integrity. Betty was a remarkable intelligent woman, whose keen mind and thoughtful insight enriched every conversation. Betty had a passion for politics and was always eager to discuss the issues of the day and share her thoughtful perspectives with her family and friends.

A former member of the Sisters of Saint Joseph, Betty's life was deeply rooted in faith. Her spiritual commitment remained a guiding force throughout her life and was reflected in the kindness and thoughtfulness she extended to others. As a nun, Betty was a history teacher at Cathedral High in Boston as well as other schools. Betty gave generously to many charities, quietly supporting countless causes and touching lives of people she never even met.

Betty loved to spend time and travel with friends and enjoyed visiting Italy, Spain, and Ireland to name a few. She was also known for her love of sports, particularly football. An avid fan, she followed the game with enthusiasm and joy. Whether cheering on her favorite team or discussing plays with friends, football brought her great excitement and connection. Betty has an abundance of people in her life. She treasured both lifelong friends and the new ones she welcomed along the way, holding each close to her heart. Betty lived with one of her best friends, Virginia, in a home that they bought together in Marshfield filling it with laughter, love and memories that would last a lifetime. Her warmth and sincerity made her a cherished companion to many. Those who knew her will remember not only her thoughtful nature but also the way she lit up a room with her presence.

Betty leaves behind many beloved family members. We will miss her deeply yet find comfort in knowing she is now at peace in the presence of the Lord, and that her love will continue to guide us until we meet again.

Family and friends are welcome to gather at the MacDonald Funeral Home in Marshfield at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, November 24, 2025 for an hour of visitation prior to the Funeral Mass, which will be celebrated at St. Christine Parish Church in Marshfield at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford.

To honor Betty's generous spirit, the family invites those who wish to make a donation in her memory to Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program, 780 Albany Street, Boston MA 02118, a cause she held dear.

I had the pleasure of visiting Betty in her home for PT. She always had a good story. She talked about her nieces and nephews, her cousin that visited for lunch, and last time I was there shared w me the bracelet she had picked out for a nephew? "He won´t wear it now but maybe when he gets married."
She lit up when she talked about Virginia. I´m sure she is with her now.
