David Jake Carnes, 58, passed away on April 18, 2024, in North Richland Hills, Texas. David was born on January 25, 1966 in Marshall, Texas, to Claude and Mary Carnes.

David graduated from Marshall High School in 1984 and went on to earn a degree from Tarrant County College. David served in the United States Air Force and was stationed at multiple locations. After his service in the United States Air Force, David started his professional career as an Aviation Mechanic with a major carrier and then went on to work for multiple civilian aircraft companies, and the railroad.

David married Lisa Carnes on July 22nd, 1989 in Marshall, Texas. The couple had one son, Travis Carnes.

David was best known for his ability to break and then fix anything. He was an avid tinkerer. He enjoyed woodworking and anything that involved craftsmanship. David was happiest when he was around his family. His greatest joy in life was being a father.

David is survived by Lisa Carnes - wife, of North Richland Hills, Travis Carnes - son, and his wife, Devin, of Plano, Texas. Brothers, Steven Carnes and wife Natalie, of New Braunfels, Texas, Claude Carnes of Grand Saline, Texas. Sister, Tricia Johnson and husband, Chris of Heflin, Louisiana. Mother-in-law, Sharilyn Hensley, of Keller, Texas. Sister-in-law, Kristy Bustamante and husband Bobby, of Forney, Texas. Nieces and Nephews, Hannah, Clayton, Claire, Cade and Mackensie. 

David is preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Mary Carnes.

David's celebration of life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 25th, at Brown Owens and Brumley Funeral Home in Fort Worth, Texas.

Interment with military honors to follow at a later date at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery in a private ceremony.
