David Joel Champagne, Jr., age 76, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, March 9, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was survived by his son, Ross Champagne (Ashley) of Plano, TX; daughters, Laura Champagne LeBlanc (Shawn) of Houma, LA, and Tara C. LeBlanc (Jude) of Thibodaux, LA; brothers, Aaron Champagne (Debbie), and Errol Champagne (Jennica); and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, David Joseph and Elsie Mary Champagne,; and his beloved sister, Sylvia Anne Mays (James). David was a native of Houma, Louisiana and later moved to Crossville, Tennessee before returning to Houma in his latter years. He loved God, nature, and family. He served as an altar boy, seminarian, and Eucharistic minister. He graduated from Nicholls State University with a Bachelor's of Business Administration. He had a long and successful career as a claims adjustor for State Farm Insurance. David was a loving father, bother, uncle, and grandfather. He was very supportive of his children and family. He enjoyed cooking, barbecuing, range shooting, and playing practical jokes on others. His warm, endearing personality was well noted by everyone around him. Within the last 5 years of his life, he was baptized and "reborn" into God's Kingdom. His legacy is one of kindness, humor, perseverance, and most importantly, faith. Although he will be greatly missed, we know he is rejoicing in the heavenly presence of Jesus Christ, our Savior. His family invites all who knew him to attend the Visitation on Sunday, March 30, 2025 from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm at Samart Funeral Home, West Park (4511 West Park Ave., Gray, LA 70359).
