David Chow Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hultgren Funeral Home and Cremation Center - Wheaton on Feb. 7, 2026.
David F. Chow, age 73, a resident of Hoffman Estates, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2026, peacefully with his family at his side. He was born April 20, 1952, in Chicago to Fred and Linnea Chow.

David was a strong believer in Jesus Christ. His Christian faith was the center of his life. He loved God and served the LORD faithfully all the days of his life. He was part of several church choirs and loved to sing beautiful Christian hymns and worship songs. His main goal in this life was to glorify God, and the LORD gave him a mission on this earth. He left a beautiful Christian legacy, investing in his family, friends, and patients.

David's calling was healing. In his own words, "I treat my patients for their physical ailments, but I also treat my patients for their spiritual ailments as well." To many, he was a steady presence, someone who helped them feel seen, heard, hopeful, and loved. He built a long career in integrative care, with training and credentials spanning naprapathy, acupuncture, Chinese medicine, nutrition, and pain management.

He earned his bachelor's degree (1974) and Doctor of Naprapathy degree (1978) through the Chicago National College of Naprapathy, and continued advanced study in acupuncture and related techniques. His clinical training included acupuncture and moxibustion internships in the Chicago area, including work connected with Cook County Hospital's pain clinic, and international training at the Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Over the years he served as a staff acupuncturist at Addison Medical Center and later as a clinical director and lecturer and faculty member at the Midwest College of Chinese Medicine. He was board certified through the American Academy of Pain Management and continued expanding his education throughout his career, including earning a Master of Science in Chinese Medicine (2004).

Outside of work, David enjoyed photography, golf, and exploring different cultures and food. He loved to travel, especially to Hawaii and Orlando, and he carried an entrepreneurial spirit that stayed with him throughout his life. He was also a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan and loved traveling to Lambeau Field to watch games.

David loved being surrounded by family and was happiest at gatherings filled with conversation, laughter, and good food. He cherished teaching moments and was always ready to share wisdom and encouragement with anyone he met. Known for his signature bow ties and sharp style, David took pride in dressing well and showing up with care in the details.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sharon; his children Nicholas (Kristen), Autumn (A.J.) Perrault, Amanda (Miguel) Diaz, Benjamin, and Zachary (Hannah) Chow; his grandchildren Liam and Alexis Chow; Blake, Brielle, Cadence, and Claire Perrault; Daegan, Ethan, Roan, Jordan, and Bastian Diaz; Laramie, Soleil, and Alistair Chow; his sister Judith (David) Wolf; and his mother-in-law Antoinette O'Brien. He was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law John O'Brien.

A visitation will be held at The Orchard Church - Barrington Campus, 1301 S Grove Ave, Barrington 60010, on Saturday, February 14, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Celebration of Life service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Coffee and light refreshments will be served following the service.
