Wayne J. Trujillo, USMA '76, Guzzlin' Gups
April 10, 2025
Dave and I were in the same USMA Corps of Cadet company (the G4 Guzzlin' Gups). He was a year ahead of me and when I was a plebe (freshman), he lived across the hall. During that year, the role of his class was to be a "buffer" between the upper classes and the plebe class. Dave took his job seriously and he often came into the room, without knocking and in his underwear (as did his roommate), asking how our day went. He often asked if we had any "boodle" (i.e., snacks or treats from home). He offered us pizza and sometimes just chatted. He was a good person. When the G4 ghost appeared to my roommates, Dave shared his concern about our spiritual safety. And he was deadly serious. Especially during my plebe year, Dave was instrumental in keeping my spirits up. I wish I had kept up with him after he graduated. He was a good-hearted person and may he rest in peace.
