There he met his forever partner also born in August 25 days later.  David married Sarah Lou during Christmas break at her childhood home in Rogers, AR on December 23, 1960.  Several years later he began his life’s work in Insurance working for USF&G as a claims adjuster in Tulsa.  In 1977 David became a partner in the Akright Insurance Agency on Maple in downtown Nowata, OK.  He was later able to purchase the agency renaming it to Total Insurance until retiring in 2004.  David belonged to many organizations; serving as officer and receiving many honors with the Lion’s Club, Kiwanis, serving as Elder and Board Member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Nowata, Toastmasters International, Freemasons, Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, Main Street America and Board Member of the Nowata County Historical Society Museum.  David embraced his role as business owner, husband, father, leader, mentor, communicator, advocate and volunteer.   He also loved the outdoors and walking in the woods, golfing, wandering mountainsides, hunting, enjoying an ocean vista or a beautiful desert view.  A trained Lifeguard since High School,  David was especially fond of the water; swimming, boating, sailing, skiing, fishing and scuba diving.
