Lorraine (Hicks) Corle, 96 year old resident, passed away early Saturday morning, Jan. 31, 2026. She was born on Aug 14, 1929 in Childers, OK. To Walter H. and Eva Jane (Adamson) Hicks. Lorraine was raised in Childers and was a member of the Independent Holiness Church. She was married to Leonard E Corle in Bartlesville before she began a career as a nursing aide. She worked for many years at the Nowata Hospital, the Nowata Nursing Home and as a private duty aide for individuals and families. She grew up on the family farm, and throughout the years she enjoyed working on the farm, cooking, and especially canning the bounty she would get out of their own garden. She especially enjoyed her chickens and family time, always looking forward to when her family would come over and she would help prepare the meal for everyone. Lorraine was always the caretaker of her family, neighbors, friends, or anyone that was in need, she was always happy to step in and help. Her love and concern for her brothers and sisters as she grew up was evident in how they all were nurtured with her care.
Lorraine is survived by her daughters, Pat Morrison, Victoria Parker, and Charlotte Smalley; her grandchildren, David Smalley and his wife Whitney, Michael Smalley and his wife Charlotte, Brad Perkins and his wife J.J., Sheri Vann and her husband Chris, Jayme Morrison, John Corle and his wife Christina, Holly Corle, Tina Mitchelle and her fiancé Travis Linville; 16 great grand children, and 10 great great grandchildren, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard, a son, Jimmy Corle, Granddaughter, Christy Morrison Ramsey, Great Granddaughter, Josie Dawn Ramsey, and two sons in Law, Jerry Morrison and Don Smalley; her siblings, Jewel Lothrey, Walter Harrison Hicks JR., Evelyn Hughes, Nelsene Hicks, Delbert Hugh Hicks, Howard Herrell Hicks, Paul Hubert Hicks, Vernon H Hicks, Allene Hughes, Nona Collier, Ancil Hillis Hicks, Eva Jane Green, James Edward Hicks, Wendell Lue Hicks, and Barbara Ann Bray.
Visitation for Lorraine will be on Wednesday evening, 2/4/2026, from 5-7pm in the Benjamin Funeral Chapel, 114 W Cherokee, with her funeral to follow on Thursday, 2/5/2026, at 11:00 am in the Benjamin Chapel with Bro Wendell Abbott officiating.
