Edward Corle Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Thurman Funeral Home - Richmond on Oct. 1, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Edward Earl "Ed" Corle, also known as "Corley," 92, of Richmond, passed away Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Ed was born on October 1, 1932, in Independence, KS, the son of Loile and Lena (Trumpower) Corle, Sr. He was united in marriage to Marie Dambacher of Independence, KS, on March 13, 1955; she preceded him in death on October 1, 2020.

Survivors include: daughter, Brenda (Jim) Moore of Richmond; two granddaughters, Victoria Smith of Richmond and Veronica Smith (Lee Stichler) of Henrietta; five great-grandchildren: Emmett Sorensen, Lochlan Roth, Torin Roth, Evan Tate, and Sheryl Tate; sister, Pauline Little of New Canton, IL; sister-in-law, Wanda Biggs of Perry, KS. and daughter-in-law, Norma Corle of Richmond.

In addition to his parents and wife, Ed was preceded in death by his son, Edward Martin Corle, four brothers, Loile Corle, Jr., Ben Corle, Jerry Corle, and Bill Corle, and two sisters, Ruby Flaherty and Beverly Corle.

Ed was born and raised in the area of his birth and made his home in Richmond beginning in 1961. Over the years, Ed delivered milk for Page Milk and later worked as a Coca-Cola deliveryman. He owned and operated Corle APCO and Corle's Mini Storage. He eventually retired as a Line Supervisor from Ford Motor Company.

A man who found joy in hard work and the outdoors, Ed was an avid gardener. He took special pride in his truck gardens, growing hundreds of tomato plants-often more than 350 on his own-along with strawberries, green beans, and other produce, which he gladly shared with friends, neighbors, and the community. He also had a deep love for animals, especially sheepdogs, and cherished the companionship of his own.

Ed was proud to have served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War Conflict. His strong faith guided his life; he was of the Baptist faith, active in the churches he attended, and served faithfully as a deacon. He was also a dedicated member of the God Squad, finding purpose in service and fellowship.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either Shirkey Hospice or the First Baptist Church of Hardin. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.

Visitation with funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, with visitation beginning at 2:00 P.M. with services to follow at 3:00 P.M. Military honors will be provided by the United States Army and Ray County Veterans. Burial will be in Richmond Memory Gardens.
