Loleta Sharp Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Thurman Funeral Home - Richmond on Feb. 19, 2026.
Loleta "June" (O'Dell Carmichael) Sharp, 85, of Richmond, passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at North Care Hospice House in North Kansas City.

June was born on June 8, 1940, in Liberty, the daughter of Eugene and Marjorie (Smith) O'Dell. She was first united in marriage to Harold W. Carmichael of Richmond on November 9, 1956; he preceded her in death March 28, 2001. She was later united in marriage to Stuart Sharp of Excelsior Springs on December 14, 2002; he survives of the home.

Additional survivors include: son, Mike (Dodie) Carmichael of Excelsior Springs; daughter, Vicki McCoy (Kelly Hibbs) of Des Moines; son-in-law, Gary L. McCoy of Kansas City; two stepdaughters, Cathy (Mike) Moore and Connie (Loren) Brenton; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and her precious dog, Bella.

She was preceded in death by her parents and first husband.

June was raised and educated in the Richmond area, where she built a life rooted in faith, family, and service. She dedicated 33 years of her life to the Richmond School District, faithfully serving generations of students and forming lasting friendships along the way. Her steady presence and commitment made a quiet but meaningful difference in her community.

June was a devoted member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church near Richmond, where her faith remained an important part of her life. She treasured time spent with her family, especially their trips to the lake, where laughter and togetherness were always in abundance. She loved playing cards-particularly hand and foot-and rarely missed an opportunity for a good game. June also enjoyed going dancing with her husband, Harold, and friends Beverly and PeeWee, making memories filled with music and joy.

She will be dearly missed by her family, her many friends, and all who had the honor of knowing her.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Humane Society of Ray County. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.

Graveside services were held at 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, in Richmond Memory Gardens. Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond is in charge of arrangements. Please remember to share your memories of June with the family by visiting www.thurmanfuneralhome.com.
