Robert Eugene Sharp (71) born on October 21, 1954, in Columbus, Ohio, passed away on February 12, 2026, at Mt. Carmel East-Hospice following a massive stroke. The son of Eugene P. Sharp and Donna L. (Marburger) Sharp was a graduate of Pickerington High School—Class of 1974.
Rob was an entrepreneur to his core and explored many careers. He worked several years alongside his father in the window glass business before extending his expertise in home improvements. Further building his resume in the health insurance industry, he later founded Search Engine Optimization, which he was the proud owner for the past ten years.
Rob loved to have a good time, and what better way to enjoy life than with his best friend and wife of 40 years, Melissa J. Sharp (Hollenbaugh). Married on August 17, 1985, Rob and Melissa made many memories traveling, throwing parties, cheering on their favorite teams (Rob LOVED The Ohio State Buckeyes), and spending as much time on or near the water as possible.
His competitive spirit with board games (Monopoly a favorite) and any outdoor sport: golfing, skiing, camping, boating on both Buckeye and Indian Lake, had him participating in everything from euchre tournaments to Easter Egg Hunts with his great nieces and nephews.
His true passion was singing and playing the guitar. Not only did it yield many friendships as he performed at various restaurants/bars throughout the community, but it gave him a unique way to bond with his loved ones while sharing his craft.
Preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, uncles/aunts and a baby boy. Surviving in addition to his wife are siblings, Sheri (George) Hall of Birmingham, AL; David (Helen) Sharp of Birmingham, AL; Barbara (Doug) Partlow and Jeanine (Mark) Mossburg – all from Groveport, Ohio, a son, Robert E. Sharp. Jr., sister-in-law, Roberta (Bobbie) Singleton of Wooster, Ohio, and numerous nieces/nephews, great nieces/great nephews. He will be missed by many, especially his beloved dog, Brodie.
Rob was a member of Gender Road Christian Church where his Celebration of Life will be held on February 26, 2026. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. with service at 11:00 a.m. Lunch will follow immediately in the church multi-purpose room.
