David L. Corless

David Lee Corless, age 88, of Holly, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 22, 2025. Born on October 2, 1937, in Detroit, Michigan, David was the son of L.D. Bruce and Willa Corless. He met his beloved wife, Susanne Haines in church youth group; they married July 13, 1959. David dedicated over thirty years of service with Chrysler and over twenty years of that service as financial secretary treasurer for the UAW. He was also deeply involved in The Carrie Nation and Dickens Festivals in Holly where he was affectionately known as the town Ebenezer Scrooge for years. He contributed to any community he was part of even in his later years at The Oaks of Woodfield in Grand Blanc, where he was the designated "Bingo King", delivering the chronicles daily and was the welcoming committee to all new residents. David was an integral part of all things he was involved in. He was an amazing man and will be largely missed by all those who knew him. David is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Susanne; his children, Mark (Loura) Corless, Jennifer Irelan, John Corless, Mary Corless; grandchildren, Joy (Shelby) Carr, Derick (Erin) Irelan, Darin (Dia) Irelan, 7 Great Grandchildren; brother, Michael (Sandra) Corless. He was preceded in death by his parents, L.D. Bruce and Willa and daughter, Myrna K Corless. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Dryer Funeral Home, 101 First Street, Holly, with Dr. Rev. Michael Carr presiding, followed by burial at Lakeside Cemetery. Family will greet visitors on Friday, December 12, 2025 from 2 PM until 7 PM and again Saturday, December 13, 2025 from 10 AM until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made in David's name to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society – Michigan Chapter.
