David Jehue Cox, 80 of Lucama went to his heavenly home on Friday morning, January 26, 2024. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. Pastor Wayne Whitley will officiate.
David retired from Firestone after twenty-seven years of service and for twenty years he raised English Bulldogs. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend to all who knew him. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
David is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Christine Cox; his daughters, Lori Tolson and husband, Doug and Christy Elliott and husband, Jeff; grandchildren, Jason Tolson and wife, Megan, Andrew Tolson, Colin Elliott and Amelia Elliott; great-grandson, Noah Tolson; brothers, George Cox and wife, Judy, Roy Cox and wife, Barbara, and J.C. Cox, and sisters, Fannie Lee Walston and husband, Billy, and Patty Ann Bryan and husband, James.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tammy Cox; parents, Fannie and Clyde; brothers, Donald, Eugene, Kirby, Earl and Jesse and his sister, Rebecca.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the heartfelt care and compassion of the fourth-floor nursing staff of Wilson Medical Center, especially nurse, Brittany Thomas and his doctors, Dr. Jasani, Dr. Cherukuri, Dr. Davda, Dr. Laird, and Dr. Barton. Thank you all for your support to David and his family.
