David George Craig, age 82 of Monroe, passed away Friday, February 21, 2025 in his home.
Born May 13, 1942 in LaFollette, TN, Dave was the son of the late Jess and Gladys (Meyers) Craig. He moved to Monroe at the age of nine, graduated high school and honorably served in the U.S. Navy from Oct. 20, 1961 to Feb. 18, 1966. He served on the same ship as his brother James as a marine oiler.
Dave was employed by Chrysler Corp. at the Trenton Engine Plant as a machine repairman. He was a member of UAW and Amvets.
Dave enjoyed fellowship and beverages at his favorite watering hole, Sportsman's Bar, operated by his good friends, Frank and Gary Akers, and served by his favorite barmaids, Cindy Hemry and Joan DeSloover. He looked forward to summer camping and annual cruises with special friends, Angel and Fred Dudley.
By Dave's request, cremation with inurnment at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, MI are being provided by Bacarella Funeral Home. No local services will be held.
In lieu of memorial contributions, in memory of Dave, take a friend to lunch and tell them how much their company is appreciated. Special acknowledgements of gratitude to the staff of Elara Caring Hospice and to Dave's great friends, Angel and Fred Dudley, Cindy Hemry, and Gary Akers.

I always liked Dave and I'm pretty sure I would have made the favorite "Barmaid" cut has I not quit Sportsman's in 1987, and moved to Florida... Sportsman's was like a family.. may his memory be a blessing.. Your Tap Dancing Bartender.. Laurabelle...
