David Culver Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 6, 2026.
David was born in Eugene to his parents Robert Dale and Mary Eva Culver.

During high school, he was involved in Civil Defense and Search and Rescue. He graduated from Sheldon High School in 1967. He went to Lane Community College and received a law enforcement degree. Then he signed up for the Army and served in Vietnam. When discharged from the military, he went back to Lane Community College to get a social science degree. There, he met his wife, Janet Flicker. They were married 52 years. David worked for ODOT in Eugene, then transferred to Sisters in 1979. He retired from ODOT in 2003 but came back and worked just the winters because he loved plowing snow.

David was a member of the Sisters Church of the Nazarene and helped build the church building. He was a volunteer at the Sisters-Camp Sherman Fire District for 12 years. He also belonged to several ham radio groups. David was a member of the VFW and Sisters Band of Brothers. He had a side business at the house as a gunsmith for many years. He was very proud to serve and be an American. He loved fishing, hunting, and camping with his family.

David is survived by his wife, Janet; his daughter and son-in-law, Andrea and George Dolansky; his son and daughter-in-law, John and Jessica Culver; his grandchildren Daniel and Caleb Dolansky and Hosanna Culver; and his brothers Joe, Chris, Tim, and Paul, and sister Mary Ellen Stankey.

There will be a Celebration of Life service at Sisters Church of the Nazarene on Saturday, March 21, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to VFW Post 8138, PO Box 682, Sisters, OR 97759. Please visit http://www.autumnfunerals.com to sign the online guestbook.
