David Thomas Curlee

David Thomas Curlee, 55, of Salisbury, passed away October 18, 2024.

David was born in October 1969 to Joseph C. Curlee and the late Jane C. Shuping in Charlotte, NC. David graduated from Northwestern High School where he was the kicker for their football team in 1987. David attended Gardner Webb College and Western Carolina University where he pursued an interest in Criminal Justice. After college, David completed Basic Law Enforcement Training and obtained employment with the New Hanover County Sheriff's Department as a Sheriff's Deputy and then later at the Rock Hill (SC) Police Department where he served until his retirement.

Those who knew David knew him as a kind and gentle soul, with a sense of humor who was always ready to help someone in need and to support friends and family. David's interests were dominated by his faith, fishing, trips to the beach where he loved body surfing, Clemson Football, his dogs, and most of all spending time with family.

David is predeceased by his grandparents William Thomas Shuping and Cora Lee Shuping of Salisbury, NC and his mother Jane C Shuping also of Salisbury, NC.

David is survived by siblings Andy Curlee (Janine) of Concord, Cathy Biamont (Brad) of Wilmington, Christi Smith of Jamestown, and Jenny Ryerson (Eric) of Kannapolis. David is also survived by nieces Gabriella Edgell (Jake) of Hallsboro, Kaylee Ryerson of Kannapolis, and nephews Nicholas Granda of Wilmington, Corbett Biamont of Birmingham, William and Grayson Ryerson of Kannapolis.

David will be forever missed and always loved.

The family will receive friends 1-2 p.m. Monday (October 28) at Summersett Funeral Home,

A graveside service will follow at Rowan Memorial Park with Rev. Daniel Joyner Miller officiating.
