David W. Curtin, 82, of Bridgeport, CT, died on Saturday, November 1st, 2025, at home, surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in Syracuse, NY, David was the sixth of seven children born to Paul J. and Elizabeth Slattery Curtin. He was a graduate of Most Holy Rosary High School in 1961, where he was an all-state basketball player. David matriculated from LeMoyne College in 1965. He received an executive MBA from the Fuqua Business School of Duke University. David married his high school sweetheart, Ann Marie McMahon, in 1966 and settled briefly in Syracuse, NY, where 3 of their 5 children were born. David's job as a regional manager with New York Telephone sent them to Albany, NY, where their fourth child was born. They continued to Lake Placid, NY, where he was promoted to head of telecommunications for the 1980 Winter Olympics, and where their youngest son was born. After the Olympics, David took a job with NYNEX in NYC, and he and Ann Marie relocated their family to Fairfield, CT. He was affectionately known as "Pop" by his grandchildren, who brought him endless joy and pride. His devotion to faith, family, friends, and his Irish heritage ensured that he was always surrounded by love. Pop will be remembered for his larger-than-life personality and quick wit. The stories and memories will be an everlasting legacy; a life well lived became a life well loved. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, 5 children: Meghean Elizabeth Hayes (Michael) of Orange, CT, Paul Sean (Kat) of Rowayton, CT, David Brendan (Kimberly) of Bridgeport, CT, Daniel Pierce (Deena) of Bridgeport, CT, and Neil Matthew (Kate) of Marcellus, NY. David is also survived by 16 grandchildren: Patrick (Rebecca), Kerry (Jake), Brendan (Sarah), Emma (Jack), Sean, Julia, Hannah, Abigail, Zoe, Lily, Clare, Pierce, Eily, Adeline, Quinn, and Darren, and his brother, John (Maureen) of Marcellus, NY. He was predeceased by his parents as well as by his four sisters, Elizabeth Curtin Donovan, Margaret M. Curtin, Nora Patricia Curtin Caldwell, and Joan Curtin Hinkleman, a brother, Gerard, two nieces, Joan (Pepsi) Caldwell and Julie Donovan, a nephew, David Donovan, and a granddaughter, Annie Curtin. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 7th, at 11 am meeting directly in St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church in Fairfield, CT. Graveside services and interment for David will be Saturday, November 8th, at 10 am at Spring Grove Cemetery in Darien, CT, next to his granddaughter. Friends may call at the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, 4 Gorham Place, Trumbull, CT 06611, from 3-7 pm on Thursday, November 6th. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Greater Bridgeport St. Patrick's Day Shamrock Scholarship Program, P.O. Box 9211, Bridgeport, CT 06601,https://stpatricksdaybridgeport.com/
