David John Daugherty age 72 of Pine Knot, Kentucky passed from this life on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at his home.
He was born July 15, 1952 in Strunk, Kentucky to the late John Henderson Daugherty, Jr. and Rosa Ella (Crabtree) Daugherty. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Opal Perry; and a sister, Tammy Roberts.
Surviving family include his daughters, Staci Daugherty of Strunk and Pamela Jones of Whitley City; grandchildren, Joshua Redden, Jonathon Redden, Jordan Perry, Olivia King, Bradley Smith, Tabitha Meadows, Bella Meadows, and Jaxson Jones; and great-grandchildren, Willow Redden, Caleb Redden, Cashton Redden, and Alaiya Vanover.
Also surviving are brothers, Jim Daugherty (and Angie) of Strunk and Tim Daugherty also of Strunk; sisters, Barbara Kidd (and Ronnie) of Pine Knot, and Debbie Taylor also of Pine Knot; several nieces and nephews; and a best friend, John Lennon.
David had worked in the coal mines as a diesel mechanic. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing and working on vehicles. He also liked keeping up with politics. David loved his family, his grandbabies were his pride and joy. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Bro. Boyd Rowe officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday after 11:00 am until service time. Burial will follow at the Kingtown Cemetery.
