David "Dave" Joe Smith, 70 of Indianapolis. Born on March 14, 1954, in Beech Grove, Indiana, to Harold and Jean (Foxx) Smith. Dave's journey came to a peaceful close at his residence surrounded by his loving family on May 8, 2024.
Dave was a dedicated insurance agent for Prudential Insurance for over three decades, transitioning into the role of emeritus agent.
Throughout his life, Dave cultivated a love for music from the '60s and found solace in attending local wineries and parks for concerts with his cherished wife Mary. An active individual with a heart of gold, Dave spent his leisure time playing basketball at the YMCA, coaching his sons in their athletic endeavors, and attending his grandchildren’s various activities. He generously gave back through volunteering at the Hunger Inc. Food Pantry and the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.
With an unwavering commitment to his family, Dave leaves behind a legacy of love and perseverance. He is survived by his beloved wife Mary; children Jeremy (Mary Beth), Matt (Sandy), Andrew (Stephanie), and David (Lauren); grandchildren Madison, Parker, Warner, Emma, Croix, Carter, Dean, Abel, Caleb, Kaitlynn, Calvin.
Dave is preceded in death by his parents Harold and Jean (Foxx) Smith, son Ben Smith, sister Cindy Bewley.
In the hearts of those who knew him best, Dave will forever be remembered for his warmth and kindness. His genuine nature touched many lives and left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, May 12, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at O’Riley – Branson Funeral Service and Crematory, 6107 S. East Street, Indianapolis, Indiana. Morning Prayer Service on Monday, May 13, 2024, starting at 9:30 AM. The Mass of Chrisitan Burial will be held at St. Barnabas Catholic Church, 8300 Rahke Road, Indianapolis, Indiana on May 13, 2024, at 10:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers memorials in Dave’s name may be made to the Polycystic Kidney Foundation, https://support.pkdcure.org, or to your choice of charities.
