David "Davey" Robert Huston

David Huston of Monticello, formerly of Rush City, passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at St. Cloud Centra Care Hospital in St. Cloud at the age of 43.

David Robert Huston was born August 22, 1981 to Carl and Brenda (Orvis) Huston in Chisago City, Minnesota. He attended Rush City Schools and over the years made great friends. David and his childhood best friend, James Kruse along with his cousins spent their best years growing up together.

In 2004, David and Christa Smith were married, together they shared the love of their daughter Liberty. Even though they divorced, Davey and Christa remained very close, raising their daughter together. Liberty was his entire world, and she will always be daddy’s little girl. Davey continued to share Christa and her children’s lives, telling people those are my kids.

Davey had been employed with Burger King, Grand Casino and most recently TJK Distribution for the Minneapolis Star Tribune. His love of music crossed over many genres, and he loved to dance. Spending time outdoors; swimming, fishing, riding his four-wheeler, target shooting, and bonfires at the lake were just some of the things he enjoyed. He especially loved spending time with his daughter Liberty and other family members.

Davey had a great sense of humor and was happiest when he was making people smile. Friendships meant the world to him, and he took them to heart. He never complained about his health and at heart was a stubborn fighter. He had a heart of gold and certainly will be missed but never forgotten.

Davey is survived by his daughter Liberty Huston of Rush City; father Carl Huston, stepmother Judy Huston of Rush City; sister Terri (Pat) Bursaw of Rush City; best friend James Kruse (fiancé Kari Lueck); former wife Christa Weigelt, her children Zayne & Lylah; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Davey was preceded in death by his mother Brenda Huston; grandparents Larry & Marie Orvis, Huston grandparents; niece Jayme Huston; mother-in-law Debra Smith.

A celebration of Davey's life begins at 4:00 pm; Friday (May 23) at Olson Funeral Chapel in Rush City.
