David Ross "Dave" Deatrick Sr.

David "Dave" Ross Deatrick, Sr., 87, of Louisville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, January 9, 2026.
He was born on February 8, 1938, in Evansville, IN to the late Lela Pet Ross Deatrick and Benjamin D. Deatrick.
He worked for Tube Turns as a Heat-Treat Operator, retiring after 40+ years, was a member of Shivley Heights Baptist Church (formerly First Southern Baptist Church), and attended Westport Road Baptist Church.
He was a member of Louisville Civil War Round Table where he enjoyed many fun field trips. He enjoyed attending Derby Dinner Playhouse Productions and performances at the Ogle Center at IUS. He was an active member of Central Music, with whom he participated in trips to Branson, Renfro Valley, gospel singings and performing at the KY State Fair.
He loved vacations to the beaches of Siesta Key, Fort Walton Beach, and Destin, FL where he enjoyed relaxing, freshwater and deep-sea fishing. Disney World was also a favorite destination.
Every form of technology intrigued him until his final days.
But most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Pauline "Polly" Thacker Deatrick; sister, Marlene Ash; and brothers, Robert Deatrick and Delbert Deatrick.
He is survived by his son, David R. Deatrick, Jr. (Penny); grandson, David R. "Ross" Deatrick, III; brother, Danny Deatrick (Manalee); brother-in-law, Lewis G. "Sonny" Thacker (Gwen); loving companion of 13 years, Darlene Witten-Cross; numerous special nieces, nephews, other loving family members and friends.
His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Ratterman Embry Bosse Funeral Home 2723 Preston Hwy. with burial to follow in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. – 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
